One of the most popular things to eat at the Namdaemun Market is the Japchae Hoddeok also known as Vegetable Noodle Pancake. Each Japchae Hoddeok consists of a rice flour dough that is hand filled to order with glass noodles, sliced onions, chopped chives and julienne carrots. The freshly formed Vegetable Noodle Pancake is then thrown on a flat top and fried to a crispy golden brown. Before serving, the Yachae Hotteok is basted with a light coating of seasoned soy sauce containing bell peppers, hot peppers, apples, lemons, onions, vinegar and garlic. The Japchae Hoddeok tastes like one of the best Korean fried vegetable dumplings you’ll ever have. The exterior was crispy enough to hold up to the seasoned soy sauce yet soft and tender on the inside. The Yachae Hotteok is a must eat if you’re ever at the Namdaemun Market in Seoul, Korea.
